- Students in casino management study what happens in Vegas
- When Michael Farber was a hospitality major at Kent State University, one class persuaded him to take a gamble and move to Las Vegas. ● Farber, a 2015 graduate who works for a beverage distributor in Vegas, said the university’s Casino Management course helped him decide to pursue a career in Sin City. ● “It made me know what steps I needed to take,” he said. “It took something that might have been a dream – and now I have a road map to make it happen.” ● Most of the students in Kent State University’s casino management class are hospitality majors like Farber, but that has been changing. ● In recent years, students studying business, interior design, sports management and even public health have taken the course, an elective in the Hospitality and Event Management program.
- “It’s part of hospitality management – an integral part. Gaming is the new kid on the block.” Rob Heiman Kent State University
- Kent State University’s popular casino course includes, naturally, a trip to Las Vegas. “Once they complete the class, their eyes are wider open,” instructor Rob Heiman says.

- Opec leaders try to keep lid on fallout over UAE exit
- Days after the United Arab Emirates stunned its neighbours by announcing its immediate exit from Opec, neither the oil cartel nor Saudi Arabia, its de facto leader, has offered any public response. It was ‘an interesting moment to do it in the middle of the war’ observes one analyst. But for now, Riyadh’s priority is to contain the fallout. Officials are acutely aware that any public show of anger could unsettle already turbulent oil markets.
