- Grocery tracker: What’s your bill?
- How prices are changing your shopping cart contents
- Jesi Aviles knows exactly what her weekly grocery bill will be before she walks into Walmart. ● “I know when I go in the grocery store, I’m not leaving without spending $400.” ● The 32-year-old stay-at-home mom of five in Mount Airy, North Carolina, has watched that number climb steadily over the past few years. Just about two years ago, she could feed her family of seven for $200 a week easily. Now the cost has doubled. The family spends about $1,600 on groceries a month, more than their $850 rent. ● Though Aviles had been noticing higher prices throughout the year, she says the past two to three months felt especially steep. They’ve quit soda. Aviles recalled that her family used to get two 12-packs for $5 or $6, but “they never run those sales anymore. Now it’s about $5 or $6 for just one pack.”
- Grocery store shoppers have seen prices spike over the past several years, and most have yet to see any significant relief. Some consumers have seen their bills double and exceed their monthly rent or mortgage.

- Hollywood bidding drama casts CNN in starring role
- Donald Trump calls it ‘Fake News CNN’. Now Paramount’s hostile bid for parent Warner Bros Discovery has turned the news network into a political pawn, as the bidder’s chief, David Ellison, signals to the White House he can reshape the channel. Relief in the newsroom when Netflix was set to win the bidding war has given way to the fear of job losses. Trump has made himself kingmaker in the drama’s finale, saying he ‘would be involved’ in clearing the Netflix deal.
