The Gobmother's Orb
Sir Brian the Lucky was a problem - what did he do this time?
Good question!
He discovered a magic lamp and rubbed it.
Okay - we ALL might do that - but when the creepy old Goblin woman appeared and offered him a wish, he wished to fly.
So she turned him into a chicken.
Currently we're calling him Brian the CLUCKY while we figure out how to turn him back...
Brian the Lucky [Cheers!] Cheers! Brian the CLUCKY [Bwark!] Do you feel clucky punk? |
KRYSTARA FRIED CHICKEN: A Fowl Problem
Brian the Lucky had been turned into a into a chicken by an evil Goblin sorceress, and only Goblin magic (and ale) could turn him back. [Collect Shaman Masks and Ale Barrels to help Brian return to his true from.]
Brian was back to his idiotic old self, but now we were dealing with an evil rogue Goblin sorceress who been trapped in a lamp.
She flew off (NOT in chicken form) south west, so we followed her.
Faerie Gobmother [Wish Granted] Bibbidi-Bobbidi-BOOM! High King Irongut [In the Pot] Gumbo, Gumbo in the pot... Princess Fizzbang [Wizz-Bang] Wham! Bam! Kapow! Fizz! Bang! Gimlet Stormbrew [Stone Brew] No great story ever started with someone eating a salad. Fundingus [Purple Spores] Fungal in the Jungle. Innkeeper [On The House] Stop asking him for rumors. |
TUSK: Sinking Ships The evil little Goblin Sorceress had somehow combined peaceful Narwhales with giant Whales AND irridescent algae. The result - Giant Glowing Blue Narwhales were everywhere around Blackhawk, sinking ships with their ginat horns! [Remove their horns and collect fish to lead the Narwhales away.] It seemed like this evil little Goblin woman liked causing chaos. At least the Narwhales had been herded out to the west, away from the shipping lanes of Blackhawk. Now it seemed she'd flown off east into the Sea of Fire, towards Broken Spire. BLACKHAWK [The Pirate Isles] The Pirate Kingdom of Blackhawk is the scourge of the western seas. BROKEN SPIRE [Lair of the Lava Wyrm] The Ogres of Broken Spire worship a mighty Lava Wyrm. Megavore [Deep Terror] Nature has a way of reminding man just how small he is. Scylla [Whirlpool] She's a man-eater. Mantis Shrimp [Claw Punch] Onetwothree, Deathpunch! Wereshark [Moon Tooth] Pleased to eat you. Merlion [Roaring Seas] Finally a cat that likes water. Narwhale [Sea Splitter] Unicorns of the Sea. |
OOZE SLIME IS IT ANYWAY?: Odorous Oozes Somehow, that little Goblin witch had animated lava from the Broken Spire, and now it was slithering around like Karakoth slimes! We'd need to get them all back into the volcano as soon as possible. [Collect Lava Rocks and lead the Slimes back home.] With the Sulfur Slimes contentedly back in the volcano, it was time to go on the offensive. We had to learn more about this tricky little Goblin. As always, the Sky Elves of Shentang were wise, so we sought out Wu Hao, one of their Oracles who knew much Goblin lore. SHENTANG [Kingdom in the Clouds] The Sky Elves of Shentang are a solitary kingdom, thought by many to be only a myth. Wu Hao [Divining Blade] Step One: Become an Oracle, Step Two: Prophet... Infernus [Eruption] You're Fired!Sheggra [Lava Strike] Sheggra won a chili-eating contest, where she not only ate all the chili, but all the contestants as well. Pyggra [Multiply] Sheggra's most lavable child. Fire Giant [Inner Fire] Flame On! Sulfur Slime [Gaseous Eruption] Why can’t I hold all these slimes? |
THE ORACLE KNIGHT: Price of Knowledge
Wu Hao, the Sky Elf Oracle, knew much about Goblins. She agreed to share her knowledge of the little Goblin witch for a price. She needed some rare herbs for her research. [Collect Elfberry and Oracle’s Breath for Wu Hao.]
Wu Hao referred to our chaotic friend as the Faerie Gobmother - a ridiculous name for a ridiculous creature. She told us terrible tales of the last time she was loose. Even better though, she told us of a Crystal that once held her. Sadly it was now guarded by hags on the Isle of Darkstone. We set out, but soon heard of the latest mischief in Suncrest.
DARKSTONE [The Isle of the Cruel Lords] Once a shining beacon in the Elder Sea, Darkstone's Lords became corrupt and evil many centuries ago. SUNCREST [Eyries of the Stryx] The Clans of the Stryx soar high above the towering mountains. Yasmine's Chosen [Spirit of Nature] Choose wisely! King Bloodwood [Raking Limb] He's pretty poplar with the ladies. Alderfather [Forest Heart] Not to be confused with the younger father. Swamplash [Twisting Vines] You thought they only smelt bad on the outside. Old Man Oakroot [Erode Stone] He never says anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say. Vine Marten [Dig Down] We found this guy in Sylvester McCoy's pants. |
HEAD IN THE SAND: For The Birds What had the Faerie Gobmother been up to now? She'd created a new type of Stryx? A flightless one? This wouldn't end well ㅡ we needed to help these poor creatures before the other Stryx wiped out. [Rally some Mystics to defeat the Stryx, and take their feathers as trophies.] There wasn't much we could do for the poor Ostryx, but at least we'd saved them from the other Stryx. We continued on to Darkstone, determined to take the Faerie Gobmother's Crystal from the Hags who protected it. Horned Hag [Hellish Cackle] In thunder, lightning, or in rain. Zilopochtli [Death Nectar] Let me sing you to "sleep"...Taloca [Thunderstrike] You've been... Thunderstruck! Garuda [Fiery Rain] What the Flock? Prince Azquila [Wrath of the Sky] You are the wind beneath my wings. Wind Archer [Sky Snipe] I can fly higher than an eagle! |
BEAUTY CONTEST: Hidden Treasures The Horned Hags of Darkstone kept many terrible secrets in their maze! We needed one of those secrets ㅡ the Faerie Gobmother's Crystal. So into the maze we went! [Collect Treasures and Crystals from the Hags Maze as you search for the specific Crystal you need.] We had the Crystal! Now we'd just need to trap the Faerie Gobmother within it. News soon reached us that she'd been sighted in the Mist of Scales, turning snakes into metal - no idea why... Regardless, we set off once more. MIST OF SCALES [Serpents in the Mist] The Naga tribes from the Mist of Scales are masters of poison and deceit. Sycorax [Sea of Magic] Yo mama so ugly... Night Hag [Hag's Curse] Suffering is one of life's greatest teachers. Sister Ebony [Mask of Ice and Shadow] Looking for Sister Ivory. Plaguecrafter [Lethal Dose] Likes to play World of Plaguecraft. Hag [Toil and Trouble] When shall we three met again? |
SOLID SNAKES: Melting Point The Faerie Gobmother had passed through the Mist of Scales, and true to from, she left a trail of chaos. She'd turned the skin of regular serpents into metal. It probably wasn't going to end well, so we decided to help the Naga get rid of them [Melt down any Cobras you find to help the Naga ㅡ they'll also gladly pay for any poison you come across.] Turning snakes into metal? Why would anyone do such a thing... But we were getting close. Reports reached us of herds of flying goats in Pan's Vale, and we knew we were on the right track! PAN'S VALE [The Land of Ancient Songs] The Wood Spirits and Satyrs of Pan's Vale live a peaceful and frivolous life. Basilisk [Serpent Song] Snakes... Why did it have to be snakes? Marilith [Sword Dance] Hoping one day for a promotion to Type VI. Steel Cobra [Triple Venom] Fangs for the memory. Sky Goat [Butt from Above] Hey man, got any grass? |
IF GOATS COULD FLY…: A Flock of Goats Flying Goats? The adventure was getting weirder and weirder. You really do not want a heavy creature flying around that likes to hit you in the head. It sounded extremely dangerous. Given enough time, we were fairly sure they could conquer the world. [Defeat flying goats, and collect their pelts as you pass through Pan's Vale.] The flying goats barely slowed us down. The Faerie Gobmother had been sighted flying north into the Glacial Peaks. Tassarion suggested conscripting an old student of his, Saga, to help us trap her in the crystal.
GLACIAL PEAKS [The Winter Fortress] In the far northern peaks, Mab, the Winter Queen, rules with an icy fist.
Saga [Ice Bolt] Please don’t sue us, King...
Pan [Golden Horn] Billy don't you lose my number.
King Silenus [Slash & Burn] The internet has voted: Goaty McGoatface.
Nax [Pan's Eye] I use antlers in all of my decorating.
Winged Bison [Migrate] You will believe a cow can fly.
|
THE SAGA OF ICE: The Crystal Prison Tassarion's old pupil, Saga, agreed to help us trap the Faerie Gobmother in her crystal. We would need some components to cast the spell though. [Collect Spirits and Ice Crystals to help Saga.] It was done - she was in the Crystal at last. No more chaos! But what to do with her? Neither Elves nor Dwarves could be trusted with such power, and Whitehelm had often proved... problematic too. And then Sir Brian said the first intelligent words he'd spoken in years. suggesting we take her into the Underworld, to the Cryptkeepers.
WHITEHELM [The Land of Faith] The tall white and gold temples of Whitehelm are magnificent to behold.
CRYPT KEEPERS [Tomb of the Forgotten Knights] Long ago, a group of Knights saved Sword's Edge, but their tomb was never found. Frostfeather [Ice Song] Birds of a feather, frost together. Frostfire Troll [Ice on Fire] This Troll is on Fiyaaa! Winter Imp [Frostbite] Ice, Ice, Baby. Yeti [Avalanche] There's no business like snow business. Winter Wolf [Winter's Breath] He's quite a shaggy dog. |
A COLOSSAL TASK: Challenge Accepted We traveled deep into the Underworld, seeking out Lady Morana of the Cryptkeepers. She did not want to take the Faerie Gobmother's Crystal, of course. But we fnew she couldn't resist a good old fashioned challenge! [Defeat Lady Morana's forces and take their shields to show your volor in battle.] And like that, it was done. Defeated, Lady Morana finally agreed to take the Faerie Gobmother and her Crystal deep within the crypts where she'd never be found again. And we took turns smacking Sir Brian in the ear.
Lady Morana [Final Judgement] Is a death knight the opposite of a birthday?
Silent Sentinel [Quiet Resistance] Silence, I kill you!
Leanansidhe [Dark Dismay] You're my butterfly, sugar baby.
Vanya Soulmourn [Blessing of Death] She'll see you in the Mourning.
King Minos [Aerial Charge] A formida-bull foe.
Judge of the Dead [Soul Arbiter] If he was crazy he’d be judgemental.
